Edda Renker Weissenbacher is a historian and a great lover of Istanbul—one of my favorite Turks. I’m a writer and a photographer. It was a PERFECT match!

We spent many months compiling, writing, and re-writing a walking guide to the historical sites in Istanbul’s Bazaar District. They’re based on Edda’s Walking Tours, which she conducted in English, German, and French for her many friends. Now people are able to follow her tours when she’s away from Istanbul (she summers and winters in Austria).

The book, published by Çitlembik Publishing in Istanbul, is available in bookstores around Istanbul as well as in the U.S. It’s presently Çitlembik’s best selling book in the United States.

Authors Ann Marie and Edda pose outside the Süleymaniye Mosque, just after enjoying a delicious meal of fasulye (stewed beans)—the best in the city!
